BIRTHDAY PARTIES/FAMILY EVENTS/COMMUNITY EVENTS
Have Astograss in your backyard for a party! The group is available
for all varieties of events; past events have included birthday
parties, family BBQ's, block parties, and fundraisers.

Astrograss is a hit at birthday parties, among the kids and the
parents! Highlights include personalized songs, special requests,
dance contests, prizes, and good old, all-out fun music that creates a festive and unique atmosphere. Astrograss writes a personalized song celebrating the birthday kid based on information provided in advance by the parents (i.e. "David's Pet Dinosaur" and "Katie the Dancing Star"). The band also performs special requests, such as the birthday child's favorite White Stripes, Beatles, or folk (or any other) song.

Please see the contact page to inquire about rates, scheduling,
booking, or any other information.

EDUCATIONAL EVENTS/ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ASSEMBLIES
Astrograss has developed an "assembly-style" school program that
combines three elements:

1)
PERFORMANCE/MUSIC APPRECIATION – Astrograss performs songs ranging from bluegrass and folk standards to their unique interpretations of Shel Silverstein poems.

2)
EDUCATION – The musicians discuss the history of bluegrass and folk music and do an "instrument show-and-tell."

3)
INTERACTIVE PROJECTS – The "Astrograss Songwriting Challenge" is a popular segment of the assembly that encourages creative writing and exposes students to the joy and craft of songwriting. Teachers are invited to have their students submit poetry to Astrograss in advance of the performance, and several poems spanning all ages are selected, made into songs, and performed by Astrograss. The assembly concludes
with a "hoe-down" dance contest in which students from each class are encouraged to show their moves. A handful of prizes are awarded to students of all ages based upon creativity and enthusiasm in their dancing.

The program can be tailored to focus more attention on any of the above elements, and has proven successful among K-6 audiences.
